A licensed cannabis plantation in Hellevoetsluis, Zuid Holland, was the target of thieves for the fourth consecutive time over the weekend. According to police reports, the culprits managed to escape with several kilos of cannabis plants using a small white van. The incident occurred early Sunday morning at the CanAdelaar production site, which is located in former tomato greenhouses

This recent theft highlights ongoing security challenges faced by the plantation, which is the largest licensed cannabis producer in the Netherlands. Earlier this month, two individuals aged 16 and 21 were apprehended while attempting to break into the facility. Despite these security breaches, the plantation continues to operate as part of a government pilot project to legalize cannabis

In addition to security issues, CanAdelaar has faced complaints from local residents about the odor emanating from its greenhouses. A court recently mandated the company to mitigate the smell within a week or face potential closure. This decision followed over 2,000 complaints from about 300 residents, who reported that the odor spreads when greenhouse windows are opened for ventilation
