Authorities in Pathum Thani, Thailand, are investigating a shocking incident where a group of armed men, one dressed in a police uniform, allegedly raided a home and stole over 100 kilograms of cannabis and 800,000 baht in cash. The gang, consisting of about ten individuals, reportedly presented a fake search warrant and claimed to be police officers from the Pathum Thani Provincial Police Station before executing the heist. The incident has raised concerns about impersonation and the security of legal cannabis operations in the region

The heist occurred on February 11, 2569 (2026), when the gang targeted a property in Bang Khu Wat, Pathum Thani. According to the victims, the men arrived in five vehicles and forcibly entered the home, which also served as a legal cannabis shop. The intruders destroyed surveillance cameras and threatened the occupants with firearms, creating an atmosphere of fear and compliance. The stolen cannabis is valued between 2.5 to 3 million baht, and the incident has been reported to the local authorities

Police Colonel Wiwat Asawawiboon, head of the Pathum Thani Provincial Police, confirmed that the perpetrators were not affiliated with his department. "I assure you that none of our officers were involved in this incident," he stated, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to identify and apprehend the suspects. Investigators have gathered evidence and are in the process of securing arrest warrants for the individuals involved

The incident has prompted a broader discussion about the risks faced by legal cannabis businesses in Thailand, particularly the threat of criminal impersonation. As the country continues to navigate its evolving cannabis laws, ensuring the safety and security of legal operations remains a priority for law enforcement. The swift response by Thai police underscores their commitment to addressing this crime and preventing similar incidents in the future
