In a decisive move, the Metropolitan Police Bureau of Thailand has dismissed Lieutenant Colonel Pongphop Kaewkhun, known as "Khak," following his involvement in a high-profile robbery of a cannabis shop in Pathum Thani province. According to Thairath, the robbery resulted in the theft of 800,000 baht in cash and 100 kilograms of cannabis. The dismissal was ordered by Police Major General Kiatkul Sonthenet, who also initiated a severe disciplinary investigation into the incident

Prior to the robbery, Lieutenant Colonel Pongphop had been under scrutiny for previous disciplinary issues, including allegations of extorting money. He was temporarily reassigned from his post at Sutthisan Police Station to another administrative role within the Metropolitan Police Bureau. Thairath reports that Pongphop had taken a three-day leave from his duties just before participating in the robbery, raising further questions about his conduct and responsibilities
